El Volcano Chinyero
It is located northwest of Pico Viejo and east of Santiago Valley and it was the protagonist of the last eruption that took place in Tenerife, in 1909 wich lasted 9 days.
With a height of 1,560 meters above sea level offers us one of the most spectacular hiking trails on the island.
It is worth walking through it, stepping on its wild lave flows and experiencing the ancestral energy that emanates from the bowels of the earth.
And also, but only if you are lucky enough, you will witness a sunset full of orange reflections on an endless sea of clouds.
How to get to the Circular Chinyero Route
We must take the TF-38 road, in between Guía de Isora and Santiago del Teide, Chío direction.
At Km 15 you will find a delimited road with white and yellow markings.
That road will take just to the Chinyero Special Nature Reserve entrance.
What is the Circular Route Chinyero like
Declared as a Special Natural Reserve in 1994. Since then, you can only walk on the roads indicated to avoid the degradation of this unique place.

What can I expect from the route Circular Chinyero
We start walking and step by step we enter a canary pine forest. We continue along the road to our left until we find the PR-TF-43 trail sign.
As we advance to our right we can see the Teide; the Pico Viejo and the Chinyero Volcano that begins to peek out little by little until it is totally in sight, impressive and perfect.
And if you think that this route can not offer you more surprises, you are wrong...
A few steps further away you will find lava flows that meander along the road and remind us of the power of nature. We walk along them without losing detail of such a magnificent picture.
As we leave behind the lava flows, suddenly, the landscape changes again.
We enter another canary pine forest, the ideal place to rest for a moment, recover strength and enjoy a well deserved snack.
From this moment we go downhill until we meet the starting point.
